Swagbucks has lots of ways for users to earn money.
You can answer surveys, use the shopping portal, watch videos, play games, do web searches, enter sweepstakes, and several more.
Each task awards users points which can be redeemed for cash or gift cards.
Cash is sent via PayPal and the threshold to cash out starts at$25. PayPal transfers come in denominations of $25, $50, $100, and $250.
Gift cards start at just $1 and come in denominations of $1 to $100.
Ibotta gives you cash back for the everyday things you buy like groceries, household, and drugstore products. Before you head out on your shopping errands, you can check out the offers currently available on Ibotta.
Choose the ones on your shopping list and they will be linked to your Ibotta account.
After you purchase the items you linked to your account, take a photo of your receipt and upload it to Ibotta. You’ll see the cash in your account within 48 hours.
Once you have at least $20 in your Ibotta account, you can transfer it to your PayPal account.
TopCashback is a shopping portal. The site partners with various retailers who have online stores.
When you go to TopCashback, click on a listed retailer’s site, and make a purchase, you earn cash back.
There are thousands of participating retailers including Macy’s offering 8% cash back, Old Navy offering 4%, and Groupon (already a discount site!) offering 10%.
You have a few choices to cash out and unlike many other similar sites, there is no minimum to cash out!. If you prefer straight up cash, you can get a transfer via PayPal or a direct deposit into your checking account.
The other two options both give you a little lagniappe (a New Orleans term that means “a little something extra”). If you choose to cash out with an Amazon or American Express gift card, you get a 3% bonus!
Ebates is another cash back shopping portal App. Ebates has more than 2,500 partners including Shutterfly, Holiday Inn Express, Best Buy, and CVS.
Some of the cashback offers available are 6% back at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, 8% at Kohl’s, 4% at Dollar General, and 4% back at Petco.
Ebates has a low threshold for cash out at just $5 but, and it might be a big “but” for some of you, you can only cash out quarterly, on the 15th day of May, August, November, and February.
If you don’t have enough on one of those dates to cash out, the money you do have in your account will be rolled over to the next quarter, you don’t lose it.
You will receive your cash via PayPal or a paper check.
Drop is an App that lets you accumulate points when you shop with your favorite brands. When you download Drop, you’ll link your debit or credit cards, you can link more than one card.
Then you’ll select five brands to earn points with. Keep in mind that once you make your selections, they cannot be changed so make sure you choose the brands you spend the most money with. Some of the companies that participate include Trader Joe’s, Target, Starbucks, and Walmart.
1,000 points is equivalent to $1. You can trade your points for gift cards at places like Whole Foods, AMC Theaters, and even travel companies like American airlines, and Hotels.com!
Are you investing? You should be. Investing is one of the best and most passive ways to increase your wealth. If you’re not currently investing because you think investing is too complicated, we have the answer for you!
Acorns invests your spare change. Sign up for an account and link your debit and credit cards. Each time you make a transaction with those cards, Acorns will round up that transaction amount to the nearest dollar.
When you have $5 in your account, Acorns will invest it for you (the money used to invest is withdrawn from your debit card, not your credit cards).
Of course, you can’t expect to retire on your spare change so you can also opt to multiply the amount of each round up amount by 2, 3, or ten times.
You can also schedule recurring deposits from your checking account into your Acorns account which we recommend. Regular, consistent investing is how we can expect to retire.
Fetch Rewards gives users cash back on eligible purchases in the form of points. The offers include many grocery items and range from $0.25 to $2. It doesn’t matter where you buy the items, as long as they’re listed on your uploaded receipt, you earn!
One thousand points are equal to $1. You need a minimum of 3,000 points ($3) to cash out for a gift card from a variety of retailers including Amazon and Target.
Shopkick lets you earn points, called “Kicks” when you shop both in person and online. Link your debit or credit cards to your Shopkick account and you’ll earn points for each qualifying purchase. Photograph and upload your receipt to the App to show proof of your eligible purchases.
When you shop through the App, you get points for each dollar you spend. Shopkick even awards points for simply walking into a participating store, no purchase necessary! Once in the stores, you can earn more points when you scan the barcodes on designated items, again, no purchase necessary!
There are 250 Kicks in $1 and users need a minimum of $2 to cash out. You can cash out for eGift cards from stores including Amazon, Sephora, Target, and Walmart. If you prefer cash to gift cards, you can sell the eCards on sites like Raise and Cardpool.
Gas prices vary depending on the price of oil, the kind of automobile you drive, and of course how much you drive but the average American spends well over $1,000 per year on gas. Because we all aspire to be Frugal For Less, we want to save money where we can, including on gas.
Trunow is an app that pays you for cashback for every gas purchase from participating gas stations. When you download the App and allow it to access your location, it will show you the best gas prices from its partners that you’re near to. Photograph and upload your receipt and you’ll get 2% cashback on your gas purchase!
You can also get cashback from non-partner gas stations but it will just be 1%. If you can’t resist picking up a snack or a drink to fill up your own tank while filling up your car’s tank, Trunow also offers cashback on certain items sold in gas stations. The process is the same, photograph and upload the receipt.
The threshold to cash out is $5 and you can choose to use your earnings to buy gas at partnered stations or you can choose to cash out via PayPal. Do keep in mind that if you choose the PayPal, option, your earnings are halved. If you have $10 in your account, it will only be worth $5. Boo to that!
Ipsos is a survey site. Companies want feedback from consumers and they partner with online companies to collect that information via surveys. Ipsos rewards users with points for each survey they complete. All surveys have a certain demographic they want to collect data from so no one will be eligible to participate in every survey on the site.
Ipsos emails surveys directly to you and each survey is worth a specific number of points. Each point is worth one cent and the value of each survey varies with a typical range being from $0.45 to $2 per survey. Points can then be converted to gift cards or cash via PayPal.
Different rewards have different cashout thresholds. For example, a $10 Amazon gift card is 1,000 points, a $5 Starbucks card is 500 points, but if you want to cash out via PayPal, a $15 cashout will cost 1,530 points.
11. Zap Surveys
Zap Surveys is another consumer research survey site but what sets them apart from other similar sites is the great payout for signing up and doing your first survey. You’ll earn $6.25!
Before starting each survey, you’ll be able to see how long it will take to complete and how much it’s worth. I love these features because I can see if a survey is worth my time and effort before I waste any of either. And like Shopkick, you can earn money just for entering participating stores.
And sometimes, you don’t even have to go into a place to make money with Zap Surveys. If a partnered store or restaurant is having a promotion and you happen to be nearby, you’ll receive a notification. When you open it, you’ll make $0.25! More than 200 stores and restaurants run these promotions including Walmart, Whole Foods, and Home Depot.
You have two options to cash out, you can choose cash via PayPal or an Amazon eGift card. The cashout threshold is a bit high at $25 but the $6.25 you earn when you complete your first survey goes a long way to helping you reach that number.
Pinecone Research is another stand apart consumer survey site because it pays at least 300 points for each survey. Each point is worth a penny which means each survey is worth at least $3, a big jump from many other sites out there.
Most surveys take about 15 minutes to complete meaning you can make at least $12 an hour just for answering some questions! That’s well above minimum wage in some places.
The points can be redeemed for both gift cards and cash via PayPal. There are no minimums to cash out either which is another thing that sets Pinecone apart.
The downside of not being like all the other survey sites is that Pinecone doesn’t take all comers. You have to be approved for membership on the site, but don’t worry, it doesn’t cost anything. We would never recommend a money-making opportunity that required you to pay to join.
You can become a member if the company invites you directly via email or if you see a banner ad looking for new members online.
Makeena is a cashback receipt scanning App similar to Ibotta. Something that sets it apart from many other grocery apps is the availability of rewards on fresh, healthy foods. I think people who eat well should be rewarded, don’t you? Makeena thinks so too.
Most people tend to be pretty loyal to their chosen grocery store and Makeena takes that into account. If you select an offer and purchase it, it doesn’t matter what store you made the purchase at, so long as you upload the receipt showing you bought the item.
The threshold to cash out is $20 but since you’re using the App to buy groceries, something most of us by at least once a week, it’s really not hard to reach it. You can cash out via PayPal or Venmo.
How many times a day do you unlock your phone screen? You’re probably afraid to count, me too! But it’s probably a lot of times so why not get paid for doing it? That’s exactly what ScreenLift does. When you install the App, each time you unlock your phone screen, you’ll see an ad, a news story, or some other kind of promotion.
You don’t have to do anything else, you make money whether you engage the ad or just ignore it. Each unlock is worth a fraction of a penny, not much but then, you aren’t doing much either! The minimum to cash out is just $1 which would be 1,500 points and you can choose cash via PayPal or gift cards from Amazon, Walmart, or Google.
MyPoints is another site that offers users several ways to earn points. You can take surveys, read emails, watch videos, and use the shopping portal.
You can redeem points for cash via PayPal but there is a $25 minimum threshold. You can also choose a prepaid Visa debit card or gift cards from several retailers. The minimum cash out for gift cards is $5 and each card has a different point (therefore dollar) value.
MySurvey is also a survey site. The surveys take from 5 to 45 minutes and pay from $0.50 to $1.25. You earn points for each survey completed. You can also earn points for simply logging into the App, and through entering contests which you’ll have an opportunity to do after completing a survey.
Each point is worth about a penny and the minimum threshold to cash out is 900 points. You can choose cash via PayPal or gift cards to several retailers including Amazon and Macy’s.
BeFrugal is a cash back shopping portal and they might just have the most partners in the business, more than 5,000 of them! If you shop there, you can probably find it on BeFrugal. Some of the partners include Walgreens, Sam’s Club, Nike, and Sephora.
The offers are extremely generous too. Check these out; 9% cash back at Bloomingdale’s, 13% back at World Market, 13% back at Neiman Marcus, and 10% back at Clinique.
You can be paid in cash via PayPal, direct deposit into your checking account, or paper check. PayPal has a minimum of just one penny, the other two cash option a minimum of $25. You can also choose from a wide range of eGift cards.
Dosh is a cash back App. Just link your debit or credit cards and when you make a qualifying purchase from a participating retailer, you earn cash back. Partners include Payless, Walgreens, and Nike. No receipts to scan and upload. Once you install Dosh, you’ll see a list of offers and the percentage of cash back for each.
When you use your linked card to make a purchase, you get the cash! The minimum to cash out is $25 which you can get through PayPal or direct deposit to your checking account.
ShopTracker is the easiest way to make money out of everything on this list. ShopTracker is part of Harris Polls, a long established consumer research company. The company wants to gather information on the shopping habits of Amazon buyers. You’ll be sent a short survey each month which only takes a few minutes to complete.
For your time, you’ll get a $3 pre-paid Visa debit card. You’ll earn $36 a year for just a few minutes of your time a year.
Make the Most of Them
If you try to use all of these Apps, you aren’t going to make as much money as you could.
Be targeted, find the sites with the most appealing tasks or the best payouts. If you like the idea of using the cash back shopping sites, choose one that gives you cash back on grocery purchases.
Food is the biggest category of discretionary spending for most of us so you want to take advantage of the opportunity to make and save a little money in it.
Everyone knows none of these sites are going to pay your rent but used well, they can certainly put a few more dollars in your wallet!
